Spare Parts Biography
Spare Parts is a Chicago-based group whose fusion of funk, rock and jazz and an eclectic list of influences ranging from Weather Report to The Beatles landed them a deal on the influential Ropeadope Records label and growing international acclaim. The band has played at festivals as far ranging as Summer Camp and the international Festival de Jazz in Lima, Peru, and their broad musical scope has landed them opening spots for artists as varied George Clinton, Vulfpeck, Victor Wooten, The Wailers, Snoop Dogg, Wayne Krantz, Garage a Trois, Liquid Soul, Fareed Haque and Marco Benevento. They have also backed-up and performed with artists including bassist Victor Wooten, SNL/Tower of Power saxophonist Lenny Picket, Jerry Garcia Band organist Melvin Seals, members of Umphrey’s McGee and Dirty Dozen Brass Band drummer Terrence Higgins.
Spare Parts recently released their second album on Ropeadope Records, “Warehaus West Sessions- Vol 1″ featuring legendary guitarist Fareed Haque, Bill “The Buddha” Dickens on bass, and Rajiv Halim. The tracks receive regular airplay on jazz DJ Russ Davis’s “Moja Radio,” WXRT, WDCB, and other fine independent stations across the country.
Spare Parts remains focused on expanding musical and now even geographical boundaries, attracting new listeners from all walks of life, and sinking their teeth into the fertile North American festival scene in 2017.
