Short Bio: Since its inception, Boris Garcia, described by one reviewer as “outlaw mystic”, has set about eroding genre lines in the sand with their unique recipe of bluegrass, folk-rock and pop, steeped in American roots sensibility and embracing melody, served up in a blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation. From its humble beginnings as an ad hoc, one off gig featuring some of Philadelphia’s top musicians, Boris Garcia quickly landed a main stage performance at the venerable Philadelphia Folk Festival. Now, six years later, the multi-instrumentalist quintet has toured the U.S. numerous times and released five albums that have established them as respected stalwarts of the burgeoning “progressive folk” scene. Their latest release, Around Some Corner (produced by Railroad Earth fiddler Tim Carbone, a regular guest at their live shows), offers up eleven songs that speak to the human condition in tales of love and compassion, higher order and personal disorder, triumph and loss, told with pure emotion and equal measures of whimsy and honesty. The album garnered significant support from commercial AAA and specialty Americana radio shows, while sitting in the Top 10 of the Relix / Jambands.com charts for months, demonstrating the band’s ability to resonate with a discerning audience.
